OK, first, for those of you who can come to the Emergent Event (announcement on Emergent blog and here on Facebook) on March 1, here is a draft outline of the table of contents for the "Delightful Terror" book: Download tc_handout.doc
Those of you who know me well will understand the significance of my making an outline available publicly! Basically I plan to describe the project by talking through the outline, and I look forward to your feedback.
Second, on Thursday evening, February 28, I'm having a little party at a local restaurant in Minneapolis. Anyone is welcome but I'm especially hoping to see former students and other Bethel buddies. Email me (see right sidebar) for details.
the outline looks very promising...

LeRon,
I actually laughed out loud when I read the subheadings in chapter 3--sex. And, since I'm a huge fan of sex and most conversations related to sex or even those conversations not about sex but said in a sexy tone, it makes me near giddy to see this subject being discussed as something more than an afterthought to those "serious" issues like transubstantiation and infant baptism...

LeRon,
I agree with Dan. Also, despite your hesitation (warranted as it is) to write a book in the more 'popular' category, I think it is great that you are doing so.
A couple of things that I found interesting: to what extent does cultural theory and 'social sciences' play a role in this book, particularly in reference to the emphasis on 'transformation of churches', through themes such as 'institutionalization' and 'idealization'? Maybe I've been reading too much H.R. Niehbur...
It saddens me that I will miss the Bethel reunion party.

Thanks for the input, guys.
I am looking forward to sharing more than just the sub-headings...
... and I promise to speak in a sexy tone, just for you Dan! ;)
